Vega has been building very specialised marine beacons for more than 40 years and provides navigational technology to most of the world’s ports and coastlines.

Part of the Carmanah Group of companies, Vega focuses relentlessly on optical performance right from the early design stage though to the manufacturing process and installation of each product.

Meeting customer demands

Vega operates its own substantial onsite manufacturing facility but meeting fluctuating global demand requires a combination of both onsite and offsite manufacturing. Through its growth phase Vega company met customer demand by outsourcing aspects of its manufacturing to Myriad Engineering on an ongoing basis.

The work varied from a wide range of small quantities of componentry for customised beacons through to large, regular orders for their flagship, off the shelf products.

The two manufacturing teams know each other well. Vega team members have visited our 1,000+ sq. metre workshop, and understand the capabilities of our large range of high tech machinery and our team. Working closely together we machined four different products to Vega, very cost effectively, meeting their quantity and timing requirements always.

Custom builds and custom service

To save Vega time and hassle we dealt directly with their casting supplier and managed the quality on their behalf. We took care of all the machining, anodising and assembly of products, delivering them ready for painting. It all helped to reduced their workload, while ensuring a seamless service.

Throughout their growth phase, Mark met with Vega regularly to discuss requirements, manage lead times and develop forecasts. Mark said, “The two teams enjoy working together and with regular communication we are all kept in the loop. We are often able to provide innovative ideas and suggestions that can help improve efficiencies and outputs. We love supporting local manufacturers like Vega and being part of their continued success and growth.”
