Lights-Out Precision: The Victor AX380

Lights-Out Precision: The Victor AX380 5-Axis CNC Machining Centre with Robotic Loading Arm
We’re proud to announce Myriads latest move in cutting edge manufacturing, the addition of a Victor Taichung AX380 5-axis mill with a robotic loading arm.
While the mill itself is excellent, on a par with our existing Doosan 5-axis mill, it’s inclusion of the robotic arm that signals a big step forward in our manufacturing capability.

The Vcenter-AX380: Core Capabilities
The Victor Vcenter-AX380 already stands out in the 5-axis machining world for its blend of power, speed, and precision.
- Simultaneous 4+1-Axis Machining: The AX380’s trunnion-type rotary table (A+C axes, 380mm diameter) enables complex part geometries to be machined in a single setup. This is crucial for aerospace, medical, and motorsport components where every micron matters.
 - Heavy-Duty Construction: Its C-framed, fixed-column structure and robust spindle (up to 12,000rpm or optional 15,000rpm) provide the rigidity needed for tight tolerances and pristine surface finishes—even under hefty loads of up to 200kg.
 - High-Speed Automation Ready: Rapid linear feed rates to 48m/min, 40-tool automatic changer with ultra-quick, bi-directional selection, and backup by a non-backlash roller-cam trunnion mechanism—ensuring repeatable, error-free results, cycle after cycle.

Adding a robotic loading arm to this package allows for lights out manufacturing where the factory truly never sleeps.
Robotic Loading: The Gateway to Lights-Out Manufacturing
What is Lights-Out Manufacturing?
“Lights-out” manufacturing refers to production that operates autonomously, often around the clock. While you need skilled and experienced staff to set the machines up correctly in the first place, once a mill is doing a production run, you don’t need staff to operate it. A robot arm loads materials into and finished components out of a machine and manages the repetitive tasks that used to require night shifts and constant supervision, keeping operations humming even when the staff have gone home and all the light are off.
How the Robotic Arm Transforms Production
Automated Part Loading and Unloading: The TM robot reliably loads raw materials into the AX380 and removes finished parts, aligning each piece with precision. There’s no need for our trained technicians and machinists to stand by during the production process. Never having the mill sitting idle during a production run is great for efficiency and ultimately cost savings.
Seamless Batch and Mixed-Production Runs: With thoughtfully designed software and fixturing, the TM robot can switch between different part types and batches, enabling high-mix, low-volume runs and traceability even during unsupervised shifts.
Error Elimination and Consistency: Robotic handling means fewer human errors and more predictable throughput. Advanced sensors monitor every movement and lift, mitigating risks of misfeeds or part drops.
How our customers benefit
Running the AX380 and Robotic Arm brings a range of benefits to both our workshop, and to you as our customers.
Reduced Labor and Operating Costs
By automating repetitive machine tending, we can reduce the labour component of the price of larger production runs.
Faster Turnaround and Improved Flexibility
This allows us to react quickly to urgent jobs and last-minute changes. Perfect for our customers who use us for just-in-time manufacturing and contract with short lead times.
Consistent Quality and Traceability
Robots don’t get tired, distracted, or inconsistent. Each component is handled exactly the same way. This translates to less variability in the machined product.
